Difficult to Mount A large plasma television can be mounted to the wall, but do you want to? It’s quite a difficult project for a homeowner to install a large plasma. For large plasma televisions, it may be worth hiring a professional. Screen Sensitivity You have to keep the screen dusted often or you will see arcing colors. The screen is delicate and can be damaged when being wall mounted. Burn In A persistently long image can burn in the screen. This means that the image won’t go away ever. Your plasma is basically ruined at this point. Light Plasma looks a lot better in dimly lit areas. A bright room isn’t the best showcase for a plasma television. It doesn’t really matter because it will still look really good; just not as good as LCD (in the light). Color Fade Colors fade over time. Some people estimate a plasma to last ten years. However, after about half the life of the television you will start to notice the color fading. For this reason, you should turn down the color brightness right after purchase. Please refer to your instruction manual. Heat and Electricity Plasma generates a lot of heat. It will use up more energy than LCD televisions. High Altitude The gas that makes up a plasma television is negatively affected at high altitudes (above 6000 ft). For this reason, people in high altitude should purchase a specially made set or purchase an LCD television. | |||
